The city’s internationally renowned Frankfurt Christmas Market opens next week.
Dates: 15 November to 23 December 2018, open 10am-9pm daily
Location: Victoria Square and New Street, Birmingham
Birmingham's popular Frankfurt Christmas Market returns in November to get the city in a festive mood in the run up to Christmas, with a tempting selection of food and drink, alongside stalls selling traditional toys, ornaments and gifts.
The popular market will open on Thursday 15 November, bringing with it the festive aroma of hot gluhwein, schnitzel and spicy sausage, which will be filling New Street and Victoria Square for more than five weeks. Deputy Lord Mayor, Cllr John Lines, will officially open the market at 5.30pm.
Earlier this year, the Frankfurt Christmas Market was named Best Outdoor Event in the city by readers of What’s On, in a category which also included Digbeth Dining Club, Birmingham Pride, Summer in Southside and Magical Christmas at the Botanical Gardens.
The market's bandstand will feature performances every day from a range of groups, including local acts and choirs on Saturdays and Sundays, and the annual Family Day, when traders offer a range of one-day discounts, will take place on Sunday 9 December.
Due to the ongoing refurbishment of Centenary Square and Paradise works, the big wheel and ice rink will be located at Eastside City Park, near Birmingham City University and Millennium Point, and will run from Saturday 17 November 2018 until Sunday 6 January 2019, between 10am and 10pm, except on Christmas Day. For more information and to book tickets visit www.iceskatebirmingham.co.uk.
However, as was the case in 2017, the Christmas Craft Market will not form part of this year’s event, due to ongoing regeneration works.

- Sonia Nichols Walker reviewed Frankfurt Christmas Market — 3 star
First time I have been.
I will give 5* for atmosphere.
Stalls were nice but pricey.
I was disappointed as the stalls were all selling exactly the things and set up exactly the same.
It wasn't as big as I expected either.
Yes, it is very busy but it's a Christmas market so if you don't like crowds or lots of people I suggest going earlier as it seemed to get busier late afternoon.
Glad I went but now I have done it probably won't go again.
- Philippa Peters recommends Frankfurt Christmas Market.
great atmosphere... shame there are so few places to sit down
- Tammy Harrington reviewed Frankfurt Christmas Market — 5 star
Have been a few times already. I really love the German market so festive.
Lots of food to choose from hot dogs to pork baps to pretzels.
Cakes are Allso amazing and really good value.
Some nice little gifts there to.
Love the different mulled wines and beer
Although some prices are a tad expensive it's only once a year you go. And the fatal keepers also have to make a good profit.
And it really does make me feel all Christmassy and festive.
Can't wait to come again next week I love it so much
