Little Steps day nursery is located in a spacious listed building on the main route through Higham Ferrers near Rushden, Northants.

The nursery is extremely well equipped with all the latest quality resources. It is registered with OFSTED for 99 children between 3 months and 5 years of age.

Our baby unit consists of three rooms; a sleep room, a room for the smaller babies and a room for the Toddlers each room is bright and stimulating consisting of a range of activities suitable for each age range.

The sleep room is equipped with four solid wood Shanti-Cots and a fibre optic star ceiling which creates a dreamy twinkle effect for the perfect sleep time. In the baby room, they have access to lots of sensory and messy play which allows babies to explore and investigate freely using a range of their senses.

As the babies move on to the toddler room, children are able to choose from a selection of activities within a free flow play environment. Babies and toddlers also have their own roof top garden space which is set up daily with a range of exciting resources and activities.

The Mulberry unit is designed for children aged 2-3 years. Here in the Mulberry unit the children have access to five themed areas where they can learn and have lots of fun through their play.

Children have access to a beautiful natural garden with Astroturf and a bark area, the messy room, the dining room (which also includes a creative table and large floor area), the small world and role play room and the snug (for comfy play and nap time), which allows the children to have the opportunities promote and encourage independence and confidence, ensuring all children progress in every area of development.

Here at Little Steps our Preschool children take part in a range of fun, exciting and challenging activities based around the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, and is lead by a qualified early years teacher.

The Early Years Foundation Stage statutory guidelines are delivered and implemented across all nurseries, preschools and schools (reception) in the U.K.

Our highly qualified staff's works alongside our teacher to plan activities based around the curriculum which support every individual child allowing them to flourish in all aspects of development. At Little Steps we recognise that every child is unique and will develop at their own pace.

Some of the activities the Preschool children will participate in include: using an interactive whiteboard to encourage letter formation, writing opportunities, problem solving and reasoning activities, having access to a wide range of I.C.T equipment and a free flow play learning environment. They also have access to there own well equipped outside play area.

Little Steps Nursery has been awarded a score of 5 stars for food hygiene by Northamptonshire County Council as well as the Gold Heart Beat for nutrition and food standards!

Our meals are served in our large dining room were the olive and Blossom units eat together, and the Mulberry unit has its own dining room.

Little Steps staff are fully trained in Sing & Sign speech & Language experts recognise this as beneficial in encouraging the development of a child's speech.
