Our aim is to give anyone who enjoys singing the opportunity to perform in concerts in as professional way as possible.
In recent years more and more of us have discovered the pleasures and the rewards of singing with others, and today the opportunities to do so are growing.
BCS founders appreciated this back in 1899 and ever since it has been bringing people together to learn and perform a wide selection of the major choral works.
We concentrate on the major works (be it Beethoven, or Gilbert and Sullivan) and when performing we are typically accompanied by professional orchestras and soloists. However many of our members are also members of other singing groups or choirs doing alternative programs, such as light music, barber shop, popular musicals, etc.
Because of our high reputation members are drawn not just from Basingstoke but far afield. We rehearse within a short walk of Basingstoke rail station and the only criteria is can you get to us. Members from Winchester. Bracknell, and beyond do so.
We aspire to be the Best Choir in the South and work hard every week to retain and improve our high reputation.
We come from all walks of life, none of us are professional singers, we just share a love of singing together and the quite rare opportunity to sing in large choral works with professional orchestras and soloists in major venues.
If this appeals to you then please come along to any rehearsal (Wednesday 7:30 - 9:30 pm at the Vyne school, Basingstoke) and "check us out" or come along to one of our concerts to see if you would like to be part of this.
