We support people with learning disabilities in the Basingstoke area on a one to one basis in their homes and communities, and we support groups of people through our clubs and events. Basingstoke Mencap: Exploring our horizons together.

Basingstoke Mencap is a Registered Charity (Number 1085576) affiliated to Royal Mencap Society. We are self governed and managed which allows for a more flexible service tailored to the needs of our members.

We provide services to people with learning disabilities in the Basingstoke area.

Services include:

Ø Mondays - May Club - 7-9pm - disco and activities at the Ridgway Centre
Ø Tuesday Club - 7-9pm at the Ridgway Centre - activities vary
Ø Wednesdays - Kurling at the Ridgway Centre (replaced by bowling on 1st Wednesday of the month)
Ø Friday - Youth club for young people 11-18 years - 7-9 at the Ridgeway Centre
Ø Aspire Job Club
Ø One-to-one support in the home
Ø One-to-one support in the community

Our funds are raised through our support service, grants, donations, membership subscriptions and fundraising events.

We have a team of 7 support workers providing one-to-one support for people to access community and leisure activities, education and work opportunities and to increase independence in their home.

We intend to increase the number of support workers by two this year and support 2 more clients.

As an agency we undertake to support adults with a learning disability but within this remit our client group is diverse and includes young people, older people and people with mental health issues or physical disabilities.
