During the last 30 years, we developed a love for beautiful furniture which resulted in not being able to find exactly what we wanted (or being able to afford!). As Ian is a very creative personality, he started to make pieces for our own home and when friends and family then started to mention that they would like it if he could make the same things for them….that’s how it all started!

Acorn Oak has evolved over time and we opened the showroom in the historic Lancashire town of Carnforth in October 2012 with a very basic display of stunning oak furniture made by Ian, as we kept being asked if visitors could come to the workshop to see what we did! Keeping on top of orders plus keeping enough stock in the showroom is very often a juggling act, as most people these days want Ian to make something bespoke to their requirements for their homes and businesses. Consequently we started to stock other items in the showroom too, including the very popular Lunesdale outdoor furniture and a range of oak furniture which is more readily available. The huge range of gift items has now grown so much that we are now recognised to have the best choice of unique gifts in the area. The most common phrase we are met with when people enter the showroom is “Wow – I didn’t know you’d have all this!” So you’ve been warned….expect the unexpected !

With regard to Ian’s work, we are very flexible and most things are possible and we regularly use the phrase “we are only limited by your imagination” when discussing customer’s requirements. We accept that in most cases, “one size doesn’t fit all” and we are often commended on our approachability as we really do get asked all sorts ! Using solid oak, yew and redwood, the variety of options is endless and we aim to create a timeless piece for you to treasure. We use a selection of methods for nationwide deliveries so we are not limited to local custom. If in doubt, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Car parking is available directly opposite the shop in the "one hour bay" or alternatively there is a car park next to the church - available for Carnforth shoppers :)
