By law all properties being sold or rented must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). The EPC must be commissioned before the property is put on the market so that potential buyers/tenants are aware of the typical energy usage and costs of the property.
An EPC will rate the energy efficiency of a property from 'A' (being the most efficient), to 'G' (being the most inefficient). It will also highlight areas for improvement to increase the overall rating of the property.
An EPC is valid for 10 years from the date of issue.
