Everyone is welcome (16+), regardless of gender or previous sports/martial arts experience. It is a great way to improve your fitness, coordination and confidence.
Apart from free-hand practice, we use wooden weapons as well: staff ('jo' - about 4 ft long), sword ('boken' - the shape resembles a samurai sword) and knife ('tanto'). These help coordination and there are individual and partner forms with them.
