A group from Year 12 travel to Sri Lanka each year to do work in the community. They fund raise throughout the year to help fund these important projects.
Akeley Wood's Project Volunteer Sri Lanka is a hugely successful volunteering programme whereby, every year, students from Year 12 are selected to work, individually and as a team, fundraising to help fund a variety of community projects, run by Sri Lankan charity Volunteer Sri Lanka. Then, in July, accompanied by experienced staff, the students travel to the south-west coast of Sri Lanka, to spend just over two weeks working with elders, orphans, disabled and street children in the local area. As well as this, they also work on specific projects, which they fund and carry out, such as renovating a school or orphanage.
