A village rich in history where many residents can trace their family history back 100s of years in the Deeside area. Ballater has a strong community spirit! We have lots of clubs, groups and events of interest to residents and visitors.

Ballater is home to more than 1500 residents as well as an estimated 1000 visitors at the height of the summer. Our village is rich in history and many residents can trace their family history back 100s of years in the Deeside area. Ballater also has a large number of residents originally from elsewhere in the UK and many other countries. At one time, there was a sign in the Ballater Post Office that said, “I may not have been born in Scotland but I got here as soon as I could!” and that is so true for many who live here!
