Barley Hill holiday cottage is situated in the peaceful hamlet of Howtel on the northern edge of Northumberland National Park. There are magnificent views of the Cheviot foothills from the front door.

This traditional cottage has been fully modernised whilst retaining period features such as the multi-fuel burner (logs and coal are included in the price). The double, twin and single bedrooms provide accommodation for up to 5 plus cot and pets are welcome by prior arrangement. There is a well stocked private garden to the rear and garden furniture and barbecue are provided. There is also a secure shed for storing bikes etc.

Local attractions include the picturesque villages of Ford and Etal, with its 14th century castle and steam railway; the market town of Wooler the gateway to the Cheviots; and the atmospheric Flodden battlefield, which is within walking distance of the cottage.

Around 15 miles away the Northumbrian Coast is officially recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where visitors can enjoy Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle, and miles of unspoilt sandy beaches. The bustling town of Alnwick with its impressive castle and gardens offers a good day out and Berwick, Edinburgh and Newcastle are all a 1-1½ hour drive away.
