Beginnings by Julie Fraser is the Specialist Newborn and Baby Photography Studio in the North of Scotland creating luxurious, beautifully styled and posed images of both newborns and babies up to 1 year old.

Julie has studied and trained with some of the UK’s leading newborn photographers to enable her to confidently, comfortably and most importantly, safely pose newborn babies and capture emotive images of your newborn baby that you will be proud to have on the walls of your home for years to come.

Wall Art Collections have been carefully designed to create stunning focal points wherever they are hung and are a favourite of Beginnings clients.

We do recommend booking your newborn session as early as possible in your pregnancy to ensure that we can accommodate you when baby is born. As babies rarely come on time, our diary is arranged to leave space for you in the weeks before and after your due date. Once born, a date for you to attend your session is arranged for when baby is around 5-8 days old. Your baby will only be this tiny for a few weeks and its easy to forget just how curled up and sleepy there were as they grow so quickly.

We allocate 4 hours for your session and as you will be our only client that day we can ensure a personal and relaxing client experience for you. Hot drinks and biscuits are provided during your session and the shop across the road sells both hot and cold foods. The studio also has a 50” TV with access to Netflix and Catch-up TV services so if you wish to sit and watch Julie work or watch a TV channel of your choice, its entirely up to you. You may even find yourself having a snooze to catch up on some lost sleep.


Beginnings also offer “Baby’s First Year Plan” that comprises of the Newborn Session as well as a “Sitting Up Session” and “My First Birthday Session”. The Sitting Up Session and My First Birthday Sessions are also available to book separately. Please ask for details.

As a fully insured and Qualified Licentiate Member of The Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers (The Societies) Julie has won several Awards and Merits for her Newborn and Baby photography and in 2013 was nominated as The Societies Baby Photographer of the Year which is a huge accolade in itself.
