General personal training and strength sport coaching at my purpose-built home studio and training yard in the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside.
Welcome to the facebook page for Ben Horne Personal Training.
The human body is a truly amazing machine. My mission is to see people restored to nature's original masterpiece design. 'Optimal health' by definition requires an enhanced level of physical fitness. Physical fitness is an essential component of optimal health. In modern western civilisation our bodies are often stunted at best in their physical health as a result of a way of life which is essentially 'hostile' to our physical being. I've been committed to my work since 2004 when I began working in the Fitness Industry.
I'm tremendously excited about the work I do, and although I'm professionally qualified I recognise I'm always a student myself. I'm dedicated to my own development as a trainer and coach.
The underlying philosophy on which my methodology is based is continually growing.
I enjoy training people at my purpose-built home studio and training yard. I utilise a wide variery of training types and restorative practises. The purpose of the training I engage in is to rebalance and enhance the body. The modalities I utilise borrow from the worlds of:
Olympic Weightlifting
Gymnastics
Strongman
Powerlifting (of which I'm a former British champion)
Running
Kettlebell Lifting
Indoor Cycling
Military physical training
(and more).
Each of these training modalities have pronounced rewards to offer in developing the body's ability to perform physical work; they "elicit extensive physiological adaptation". Let me stress that I cater for every level of ability. I adjust the level of difficulty of every exercise to a level which is appropriate to each individual. Perhaps lifting an atlas stone, even a small one, is too much for your system. That's fine, because we can simply adjust the difficulty of the movement by exchanging the stone for a lighter object. That could even be a pillow. Perhaps travelling 100 metres (running) is an impossible feat for you. That's fine too, that's what we have 10 metre distances for. Likewise, if a 200kg back squat isn't enough for you it's not a problem. We can simply make it a 300kg squat. Or a 400kg squat, and so on. Everything is adaptable. No matter what the level of ability.
It's important to be able to measure adaptation. This means establishing baselines, for which I use an extensive array of measurement tools and tests to track progression, and to help understand the changes occuring in your body.
Attempting to elevate health through the enhancing of physical fitness alone is a futile pursuit however, if an individual's lifestyle is unbalanced or 'unhealthy'. Nutrition, hydration, sleep, stress management, happiness: a strong healthy foundation in each of these is prerequisite to overall optimal health. Therefore, my training includes attention to these areas, with particular energy given to nutrition.
After having a free consultation, where a prospective client and I will get to know one another better, I always offer a free first session to allow you to better understand what a typical training session with me will be like. There is no obligation at either the consultation or complimentary session to engage further custom.
I hope that this information has been helpful to you. If you'd like to know more please contact me at your convenience.
Yours in health, Ben Horne.
