A group of Blackrod residents and The Blackrod Town Football Club are exploring the feasibility of local management of these indoor and outdoor facilities
The Blackrod Community Centre Project Group wants to find out if it is feasible for these currently underused community facilities to be advertised and managed locally by the community instead of remotely by Bolton Council.
The Group want to publicise its existence and that these facilities that can currently be hired on an hourly basis by phoning Bolton Council on 01204 334301.
We want residents to tell us what type of community recreation, sport, leisure or educational activities for adults and children are missing in Blackrod and which activities residents would want to seehappen in the future. We want to try to add to what is already available in the Village.
The Group is arranging a community consultation exercise with residents and community groups on Wednesday 6 April from 6.30-7.45pm at The Centre to explain the Project and to ask for ideas, support and help.
A follow up event is planned to co-incide with the Scarecrow Festival on Saturday 2 July. This will showcase some of the activities that are already happening at the Centre. We will ask for community feedback, views and suggestions on the ideas and proposals that we have been able to develop by then.
