Dance Education at Bridgwater College, Somerset. We offer L3 BTEC, A Level, Dance Company, L4 Contemporary Dance and L6 Diploma in Dance Teaching.
Bridgwater and Taunton College offers a range of qualifications in Dance including the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma and A Level. Alongside these qualifications, you also have the opportunity to audition for Bridgwater College's Dance Company, D14. We now also offer the Level 4 in Contemporary Dance and a Level 6 Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning for those who wish to pursue a teaching career.
On the BTEC Extended Diploma in Dance you will study all aspects of dance, including contemporary, ballet, jazz, choreography and technique. In addition you will study other aspects of the performing arts including physical theatre, contact improvisation and relevant industry skills. As part of the course you will also study historical and contemporary dance work. You will learn and perform choreographed pieces and devise exciting new work of your own, which will be performed in various public events.
The course provides opportunities to develop skills in creativity and performance. The course offers technical skills and professional training, opportunities to see professional work in the theatre and to gain experience through a range of professional workshops. The course is defined through a variety of unit options, enabling students to develop both practical and theoretical skills related to their chosen area of study.
