British Sign Language in Downton

An informal gathering for anyone who would love to learn a little bit of sign language. Free sessions, just for fun!

Ever wanted to learn how to introduce yourself in British Sign Language? Maybe you have Deaf family or colleagues that you would love to sign to?

My name is Hayley Beckett and I’m currently in my second year at university studying English Language and Linguistics and British Sign Language. I would love to work in the Deaf community in the future and am passionate about spreading knowledge of Deaf culture and British Sign Language.

I’m setting up an informal gathering of anyone who would love to learn a little bit of sign language. The sessions would be free to attend, I will be providing a donations box for tea, coffee and refreshments, however it is not required to give money. If you are interested please like this page or email me for further updates. When I have a rough idea of numbers I will post on Facebook and email those who have emailed me the address of where we’ll be meeting and what day and time. It is most likely that the sessions will be running in the evening to allow people to attend after work. The sessions will be running in July and August and possible in other school holidays if there is a large interest in me doing so.
