Researching the Second World War history of Chippenham, Wiltshire.
During 2009, I was asked by a work colleague if I would undertake some research into his Uncle’s wartime service, he had been killed in action during 1944 in Holland. It was whilst carrying out this research that I realised that those listed on the war memorial also had a story to tell and were more than just a named carved in stone. I therefore decided that I would endeavour to tell their stories as well as of the events in around Chippenham during the Second World War.
The main aim of the website and its associated social media is to honour the memory of those that paid the ultimate sacrifice during that period and also to educate later generations.
This is very much on an ongoing project and as such I will try to update content as regularly as possible.
