The fabulous people who take and help on my tours of Savile Row, Jermyn Street, Brick Lane, with stops around St. James's, Mayfair and London's East End.
Because of my work at Jermyn Street Theatre, I became very curious about Jermyn Street but felt a little hesitant about visiting the fine menswear shops. I then thought a lot of people might share my reluctance, despite their curiosity about the street, so I decided to start these tours for small groups in St. James's and on Savile Row, bringing people into the shops, tailoring houses and art galleries to discuss the history of these places and the often exquisite histories of the items on display. The history of British menswear is something to be celebrated, and the creation of the Golden Square Mile of Menswear something to be explained and appreciated. Likewise with the art galleries of St. James's, where art was exhibited to the public for the first time in the 18th century. I tell that story and take people into the galleries to see up close everything from Renaissance armour to the latest children's book illustrations and political cartoons.
