What Do Osteopaths Do?
Osteopaths are healthcare professionals. We are trained to diagnose and treat many causes of pain and restricted movement. We work on backs, necks, muscles and joints to relieve pain, increase mobility and improve blood and nerve supply to tissues. Osteopaths work with you to boost your body’s own self-healing mechanisms.
Our treatment techniques range from manipulation and articulation of the spine and other joints, to stretching and massage of soft tissues and muscles. Osteopathy is patient-centred. In other words, your treatment is tailored to you as an individual. By considering not just your symptoms but also your medical history, your lifestyle and your personal circumstances, we can choose the most appropriate treatment techniques for you and offer the best advice for your rehabilitation.
About Me
I am an experienced osteopath. I graduated in 2001 with a first class honours degree from the College of Osteopaths & Middlesex University. I have worked in a number of clinics, as well as setting up and running my own osteopathic practice in Rutland. I moved to Sussex in 2004.
I am fully registered with the General Osteopathic Council. I am also a member of the British Osteopathic Association and the Association of Physical and Natural Therapists.
I hold qualifications in aerobics teaching, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries. I worked as a sports massage therapist while studying osteopathy. Before all that, I worked as a management accountant, which gave me some excellent first-hand experience of postural, driving and work-related aches and pains!
Outside work, I am an enthusiastic motorcyclist. If you are a biker too, you might be interested in booking an on-bike postural assessment. For this, I can follow you on my bike, observe your riding position and give you feedback and advice.
