An annual event in Congleton run by members of various denominations. We have some well known speakers and the event is linked to Keswick ministries.
Congleton Bible Week
The Bible Week started in 2011 as a result of a vision shared by Keith Jarvis (retired Methodist minister) and Paul Withington (Vicar of St. Peter's C. of E., Congleton.) They shared the vision with the Congleton Churches Together Committee, and gathered together a separate committee willing to work and promote the first event. The Bible Week committee is gathered from different churches in the town, including one not part of the CTC.
Thed first event was a week in May 2011, which coincided with the four hundredth anniversary of the King James (Authorised Version.) The first speakers were Rev. Rob Cotton, then working for the Bible Society, and Rev. David Coffey, former secretary of the Baptist Union. Afterwards the committee decided to hold a weekend every other year, so in 2012 Methodist minister Rev. Kevin Jones was the speaker. In 2013 Rev. Richard Bewes was the main speaker, but the week began with Dr. Alec Motyer and concluded with Dr. Paul Blackham.
In 2014 the weekend was led by Rev. Paul Wilson, a Methodist minister working for Methodist Evangelicals Together. In 2015, we linked up with Keswick Ministries, and Dr Krish Kandia and Rev. Jonathan Lamb were the speakers. The weekend in 2016 was led by Rev. Derek Tidball.
We make no admission charge to any of our meetings. We usually have a gift plate near the exit for anyone who wants to make a donation. This is the sole source of our funds from year to year, and is used to cover the speakers' expenses and publicity materials.
Further information can be obtained from Rev. Keith F. Jarvis (01260 289373) or Mr Paul Temple, the secretary (phone 07717 853390.)
