Croyde Ocean Triathlon, 2nd July 2017 1.5km Ocean Swim, 40km Road Bike, 12km Run.
If you only participate in one triathlon this year, let it be the Croyde Ocean Triathlon in North Devon. It is quite simply the most stunning location that you could ever wish for. The start and finish line overlook Putsborough Beach, (a 3 km sandy beach stretching up to Woolacombe) with views of Lundy Island in the distance.
The Course
1.5km ocean swim along Putsborough Beach, in the Atlantic Ocean, marshalled by fully qualified lifeguards. Water quality is superb and it has a blue badge rating.
40km road bike course: winds its way towards the historic Pickwell Manor and up onto higher ground heading towards Ilfracombe. Heading through the Fullabrook Wind Farm with rolling hills and beautiful views, there is something to see at every turn and plenty of elevation to challenge all competitors.
12km off road run. Demanding, hilly & possibly muddy route, where you might encounter the odd sheep, a fantastic run devised by local athletes to give you fabulous views of all three bays: Putsborough, Saunton and Croyde. It will include a beach run along the famous Croyde surfing Beach and will encompass Baggy Point, before hugging the coast line and dropping back into Putsborough.
