My name is Charlotte Lee and I am ambitious to progress in the sport of showjumping currently supported by LegUpForTalent, Balanced Horse Feeds
I am an ambitious, driven and charismatic young rider who wants to progress within the sport of showjumping.
My name is Charlotte Lee and I am 23 years old. I have resided in the county of Dorset all of my life and have been riding horses for the last 20 years. My passion to ride horses came from my parents who very kindly bought my first pony for my 3rd birthday and through their undeniable support throughout the years they have allowed me to follow my goals and aspirations to become successful in the sport of showjumping. I have now come to the age where I am supporting my competitive hobby through my own finances and career, but without the additional support of companies like yourselves it is going to become increasingly difficult to achieve the goals that I have set myself for the coming years. I am extremely hard working as I continue to work full time whilst still managing the work with the horses myself, I believe that you always get out as much as you put in, which allows me the correct attitude to succeed. I have a superb ‘can do’ attitude and after leaving school with 11 GCSE’s and 4 A levels I progressed onto university at Hartpury in Gloucestershire studying a BSc Hons degree in Equine Science allowing me to have the broadest knowledge of horses and the factors that affect their performance. My degree has allowed me to transfer my skills into looking after my own horses to the highest standard possible in order for them to perform at the top level.
I currently have 2 horses that I own and I have produced both from novices with no previous showjumping experience. Zarina is an 11 year old, KWPN, bay, mare who I have owned for the last 3 and a half years. Zarina was bought as a blank canvas with a huge amount of talent and I took her from jumping 1m tracks to 1.30m in just over a year, I have formed a fantastic partnership with her now and she is continually going from strength to strength. Hillviewfarm Fergus is a 4 year old, Irish Draft, chestnut, gelding who I have owned for just over a year. Fergus was bought as an unbroken 3 year old in the summer of 2013 with the view to produce him ready for age classes as a 5 year old, he has shown all the attributes to become a very successful horse, with a great attitude to learn and plenty of scope and technique when jumping.
My goals and targets for this coming year are to continue to produce my horses to the highest possible standard. I am excited to target Zarina at the County Show Circuit including some more high profile shows this year in the 1.35m/1.40m classes allowing me to step up and start to compete at a more professional level and Fergus will be aimed at the Young Horse classes on the National Circuit around the UK.
