* The highlighted points above are renewable technologies that are eligible for government grants and paybacks. Because the government has entered a contract with the E.U to lower its Carbon emissions through use of renewable technology and efficiency they are offering incentives to whoever installs renewable products that match their criteria. In short because the government do not want a hefty fine for not meeting the targets from the E.U they are willing to invest in the infrastructure within the U.K and pay you for installing renewable and low carbon energy products. Ofgem the energy regulator are the body in charge of distributing these payments and MCS is the accreditation organisation set in charge of monitoring the installs and their compliance to receive the RHI's (the payment for installing renewable technology). There are either lump sum grants for the renewable products or payments of pence per Kw. There are different rates for differing technologies and the advantages of each product can be found on our renewables page. In essence installing renewable technology in your home or business is an investment. If the renewable technology is installed under the MCS scheme then you'll get a payback tariff from the government along with the free energy that the unit is harnessing. Even without the government paying an incentive these technologies can reduce your energy bills and carbon footprint yet you can take advantage of the rhi's paid by the government having to meet their E.U deadlines.
