An exclusive country house retreat for Serving and Retired Officers of the Armed Forces and their families.
Douneside House is a truly special place, a hidden gem in a chaotic world. Subsidised significantly by The MacRobert Trust, its doors are flung open between May and October, Christmas week and Easter, to both serving and retired Officers of the Armed Forces and their families. It provides a welcome haven from the pressures of everyday life by offering a unique holiday in a superbly catered and elegant country house.
The welcome is warm, the food delicious and the facilities abundant. The only decision to make involves whether you really need that extra slice of Victoria Sponge Cake at Afternoon Tea.
With a Leisure Centre that includes a heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, fitness suite, snooker and pool tables, table tennis and an all weather tennis court, there is plenty to do, even on a rainy day. Why not try your hand at croquet, beat your partner at a game of badminton, or hone your skills on the putting green. In the mean time, your children could be happily bouncing on the trampoline or playing on the swings. A perfect set up for all the family.
Situated on the edge of the Cairngorms, overlooking the Grampian Mountains, Douneside could not be better placed for exploring the natural beauty of Aberdeenshire. If you fancy a hike, take a look in our Map Room, where a whole host of helpful literature and maps will be available to you. Alternatively, for those with a historical bent, there are a number of magnificent castles and historical sites to visit within the area. When settled upon a destination, we can provide you with the perfect picnic to accompany you on your adventures.
