The East Lothian Co-operative Bowling Club was founded in February 1947, and is situated in the town of Tranent. For six years the Committee had to ask permission of other local clubs in the area if our members could play competitions on their greens. In June 1953 the members achieved their goal when they had their own green. Another three years, and in September 1956 the funds they had raised, and a clubhouse was built by the local Co-op Works Department
We are a Lawn Bowls and Social club to the east of Edinburgh with easy access to local amenities and the A1 Trunk road.
The Bowling Section
The bowing section currently comprises of 3 Men’s teams, two play in the East Lothian League and one in the Esk League and 3 senior men’s teams who all play in East Lothian. A ladies team who play in East Lothian leagues and 2 youth teams.

Bowling friendlies
The bowling teams play multiple friendly games with multiple local and national teams. The rivalries are always there but nothing some light refreshments after the game don’t settle. If you would like to organise a friendly with us, or have a suggestion of a club our touring teams can visit please contact us and we can arrange all sorts of things.
