Eden is a youth project based in Buttershaw, Bradford, in and for the estate
Started ten years ago, Eden (http://www.eden-network.org/) is a modern missionary movement that recruits and trains disciples to live radically for Jesus by leaving often comfortable settings and moving to live and work in areas of the country that are close to God's passionate heart for the poor, but that are often marginalised and forgotten by the rest of society.
Eden projects work with local Churches to see young people as the answer and not the problem for Estates across the England. Innovative youth and community work is central to the Eden vision. Teams of people 'tent make' by working in a normal jobs but then living incarnationally amongst the young people they seek to serve. Eden teams are lead by a paid worker who co-ordinates the work and manages the team.
Eden Buttershaw is lead by Gavin Humphries. With his wife, Maz, Gavin moved on to the estate in February 2010. His role is being generously supported by the Baptist Union's Home Mission fund, through our partnership with the Yorkshire Baptist Association. Team volunteers are still needed.
