Cricket coaching in the Exeter region. Cricket academy for keen Devon youngsters.
A bit about the coach – Cameron Suidgeest
I’m an Australian cricketer over here in England to play cricket for the summer. I signed up to play for Bradninch Cricket Club after getting in contact with them via a “cricket exchange” website. BCC are very keen to gain promotion this summer and hopefully I can help them somewhat in this endeavour.
I have played cricket for the best part of 20 years. The game has taken me to some awesome places and given me some great experiences, including; right here in Devon, India, and all over Australia (Wagga Wagga, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Hobart, Bundaberg etc).
I’ve played at many different levels and in a variety of standards throughout the years. I won’t go on to name them all but most recently I’ve had the pleasure of representing the Australian Capital Territory in the Futures League. For the past 3 seasons I’ve been playing for the ACT Comets in the national 4-day competition (Futures League), as well as the T20 side, and other teams/games- including a practice/warm-up match against the England team (by far the biggest highlight of my playing days so far. This was an amazing experience!)
I have my Level 1 cricket coaching accreditation in Australia – this is roughly equivalent to an ECB Level 2 over here in England.
I’ve been the Junior Development Officer at my local Canberra club – Ginninderra Cricket Club, for the last 4 years. This has given me the chance to work with a variety of different age groups, plus it has provided the opportunity to collaborate with other coaches.
Outside of cricket I have completed two university degrees; a Bachelor of Sports Coaching and Exercise Science, and a Bachelor of Education (Graduate Entry)- primary school teacher. Coaching and educating youngsters is something really enjoy!
I have decided to offer this coaching service so that I can pass on some of the knowledge and experience that I have gained over previous years. Cricket is a great game; I especially enjoy it for the experiences it has provided me. I hope that I can pass some of this on to some keen young cricketers in the Exeter region.
