Faygate Youth was created in September 2014 in memory of Mike Baxter, who sadly passed away in July 2014.
Michael & his wife Linda moved into the village of Faygate in 1984 and Mike soon joined Faygate’s football club as a player at first, before then taking over as manager in 1988. Mike took on various and often multiple positions within the club, combining the roles of chairman, grounds man, secretary, treasurer, and general manager of the club running up to two men’s and two youth teams.
Mike was the man behind The Faygate 6¬‐a-¬side and it is a tournament he started back in 1988, some 28 years ago!
Mike devoted over 25 years of his personal time to fulfill his passion for not only keeping Faygate Football Club going, but also to ensure the great developments and achievements the Club has made.
Mike was truly one of the most selfless, loyal and thoughtful people that you could ever meet and had an innocence and genuine ability to see and bring the best out in a person, which has become a foundation that is at the core of this club.
Mike clearly was someone who people very much admired and respected and all of us here at Faygate Football Club and all his family are so very proud of him and all that he has achieved
He leaves behind a fantastic club with a great history and heritage, which will always form the basis of the club and one which Faygate Youth FC is very proud to carry forward the legacy that Mike has made for all the community.
Two of Mike’s grandsons Bailey Shorey and Deon Baxter are now proud players for Faygate Youth

HOW TO JOIN FAYGATE YOUTH:
Faygate Youth is linked with ‘Sussex Football Academy’, who offer excellent football coaching and training for children in Reception upwards by qualified FA coaches. Sussex Football Academy run independently from Faygate FC though act as a feeder for the club.
These sessions are held at Faygate playing fields on Saturday mornings, enrollment/interest can be undertaken with Jon Atkins
As they progress friendly matches (5 v 5 as U7’s) are arranged by Sussex Football Academy to help the children gain valuable experience in a team environment. These games will be played under Faygate’s name before joining Faygate FC to compete in the Horsham District Youth League.
During your time with Sussex Football Academy Faygate Football club would like you to think about becoming a manager for when the children are ready to enter the Horsham District Youth Football League. Two positions are required, one is obviously a Manager/Coach and the other is an assistant coach.
The club will pay for your level 1 training course, provide a kit, equipment and any other support you may need during set up.
All what we ask for in return is your commitment!
When the transition from Sussex Football academy to Faygate FC takes place then the children will be expected to attend one training session midweek as well as the orgainsed fixture on Saturday mornings.
