- GCSE Mathematics students
Behind Gr8@maths you’ll find me – Nerys Wyn Jones BSc Hons, PGCE, NPQH, MBA.
As a qualified school teacher I successfully taught maths to secondary school children of all ability levels for over 15 years. I have also been a personal maths tutor, improving understanding, skills and confidence of individuals and small groups of students and have held senior numeracy roles at National level.
This career path from classroom teacher to national roles has given me an insight into numeracy and mathematics problems within the UK. I care passionately about making a positive difference to the way mathematics is taught and learnt.
Love it or hate it we all need mathematics in our everyday lives and a growing number of us need it in our work.
The Gr8@maths facebook page helps individuals
LEARN HOW TO LEARN MATHS
Its aims are to inspire and empower:
• PARENTS by providing them with information and examples of how best to support their child’s mathematical development through Foundation Phase to KS4
• STUDENTS studying for their GCSE Mathematics examinations by providing revision tips and links to revision programmes
We aim to foster an individual’s belief in their ability to ‘DO’ maths, inform parents, students and teachers about important events and developments in numeracy and mathematics in Wales and England, share relevant research and provide examples of fun activities, puzzles and games that promote engagement with mathematics.
