Hailsham Table Tennis Club was first formed in 1965 by Gordon Steggall, co-author of the book Table Tennis: The Skills of the Game. Due to exceptional supporting staff and management the club soon grew and expanded rapidly, becoming home to many great players and county champions. Sadly, during the mid 80's the club lost it's venue and not readily finding a new home, H.T.T.C. regrettably lost most of it's top players. Years past by without the club in action.
After a substantial hiatus, In 2003, the club's original serving secretary, Jim West, decided he would reignite the club as chairman. With the help of his friend, 2 time county champion Dianne Griggs, Jim, an ex-England assistant coach and founder of the Hailsham Sports Alliance(now Hailsham Active), worked tirelessly to advance the club into a positive future. I believe he has done this remarkably well.
Today, Jim still at the helm, Hailsham Table Tennis Club is an evolving sports organisation currently playing competitive ping pong in the Eastbourne Table Tennis League. We have teams battling in division's 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 respectively. We achieved second place last year in division 1, and we hope to achieve more this year!
However competitive, we pride our ourselves on having a relaxed and friendly environment. We always warmly welcome new visitors and seek to integrate new members with much care and attention. The club has people of all ages ranging from 12 to 95. You're always welcome here.
