This page is dedicated to my work as an animal artist. The pictures I upload are aimed at giving the viewer an insight into my work and how it is produced.
I'm Lesley Hartley, and I specialise in pet and animal portraits.
I've always had a passion for drawing, even as a child. I started doing commissions seriously about 14 years ago and haven't looked back since.
I went to college when I left school. I have worked in other mediums, but find pastels are my passion. I can do so much with them. I also like doing animals eyes - after all they are the windows to the soul and can bring someones long lost pet back to life. The day I lose this gift, my pastels will be put away.
The name Hartley Hare comes from a baby hare I rescued that became too tame to release. He lived in the house with us and our 2 dogs. At the age of 7 years old he developed an abcess that back tracked to his brain. Our vets were unable to save him, so sadly we had him put to sleep.
My website, which is currently being revamped, is named in his memory of a much loved Hartley Hare.
Please feel free to browse through the galleries or, if you would like to commission a custom pet portrait, then please contact me with any questions you may have.
Thanks!
