Next Game - AFC Sudbury (Home) 25/1/12
Histon started the 2006-2007 season with great anticipation following the arrival of new players John Kennedy, Matthew Langston and Junior McDougald who boosted the Stutes squad and after a solid pre season campaign the team started the season looking sharp and focused. The league campaign started with Histon heading the league table early on, a position they would only give up for six weeks of the season. The FA Cup was not to be the ‘promised land’ this season with the team falling at the first hurdle at home to Matlock Town. This disappointment was soon forgotten as the team got into its stride and started to make a serious challenge for the Nationwide South Title. Histon fans’ Christmas was made more memorable after Cambridge United arrived at the Glass World for the first competitive fixture between the clubs and the Stutes surprised the U’s by running out 5-0 winners in the FA trophy campaign that only lasted one more round, when, despite a sterling performance, Histon went out to Conference National side Northwich Victoria losing an entertaining game at the Glass World 2-1. Neil Kennedy celebrated his tenth season at Histon and to mark that special achievement scored his 300th goal for the club in a hat-trick against Havant and Waterlooville. The club stayed in the hunt for the League Championship throughout the season and went into the last month in pole position with all of the top six sides to play. A run of 12 games with only 1 defeat during the last six weeks of the season provided the team with an astonishing 19 point lead so the team traveled to Farnborough Town on the last day of the season knowing the title was theirs.
The Glass World Stadium has seen further improvements with the new County FA headquarters in an advanced stage of building; the new facilities should be in use by late autumn 2007. Two new directors joined the Histon board during the summer along with seven new players. Pre season has been all about preparation and everyone at the club is eagerly awaiting the challenges the Blue Square Premier will bring.
