John Edmund Marketing Strategy & Planning
Strategic Planning, Marketing and Organisational Development Consultants.
Working within my professional discipline of marketing, I have had the opportunity to apply my skills to the problems facing large and small businesses in engineering, construction products & services, food, clothing & textiles & tourism . Within these sectors, in the cultural sector and in professional services organisations I have honed and applied my organisational development skills to tackle problems of efficiency and effectiveness leading to long-term sustainability. My work has been primarily strategic but I have also had responsibility for developing and supervising tactical implementation on behalf of clients particularly where new product and brand development has been involved. The development of team working and ‘effective leadership ’ has been my core focus to this work.
In addition to marketing strategy development, marketing audits and tactical marketing planning assignments, I have carried out marketing due diligence appraisals for Invest NI (economic development), the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, the Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment, the Department of Education, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, many local authorities and other public sector institutions. I have also completed business sector reviews in both NI and GB and researched sources and patterns of foreign direct investment and the development of structures to support trade development across the Irish Sea and into new export markets.
I was one of the first consultants to recognise the power of the creative industries to contribute to economic and social development and have been a strong advocate for the development of a clear focus on ‘the creative business’ at both the national and individual opportunity levels.
I have been heavily involved in the development and application of creativity to innovation processes for new product and service development.
I have prepared most of the plans on the development of the cultural sector as a tourism opportunity in Northern Ireland.
I have carried out economic appraisals and prepared feasibility studies that have led to significant infrastructural investments with funding from the EU.
I have managed and led specialist professional teams delivering high quality thinking across all of the above areas of society and the economy.
Over the last two years the focus of my consultancy business has returned to what I enjoy most, helping companies strengthen the brand, develop new products, win in new markets and grow their organisational ability to manage it all and make more money.
