Keele University Boat Club is based at Rudyard Lake, a beautiful 2.7km long reservoir, and shares a boat house with North Staffs Rowing Club. KUBC, the winner of Keele University’s most improved Sports Club 2012/13, has grown exponentially since its conception in 2010 and now has over 40 male and female rowers.

The club takes on a large batch of novices each year and provides a great environment for people looking to experience rowing for the first time. Those that decide to take the sport up will enter into the Novice squad, and likely achieve a level of fitness they have never experienced and race at a number of competitions throughout the year.

For experienced rowers, there is the option of joining two squads: Senior or Intermediate. The Senior squad is for experienced rowers who want to push themselves to the limit. This squad will be aiming for good placing at a number of big competitions throughout the year, with the BUCS head race and the BUCS regatta two of the highlights. The Intermediate squad is for those who don’t want to fully commit to the extensive training hours of the senior squad, but still want to enjoy the sport and occasional competition throughout the year.

KUBC also has a fantastic social scene with regular socials at the Union, meals out, trips further afield, and post training £3.95 Carveries at Rudyard Hotel as standard.
