Kilmarnock Dog Training Club

Kilmarnock Dog Training Club is a fun, friendly place to bring your dog for some training. We meet on Thursday nights at 7pm in the Riccarton Community Centre in Kilmarnock.

We run 3 classes.

7pm - Beginners. This class is for dogs and pups who have done no or very little training. You will learn the basics of how to keep your dogs attention, you will learn how to get your dog to "Stay" and most importantly, how to get your dog to "Come" when called. Every so often we have fun competitions including "Best Trick" and "Waggiest Tail". We also do Kennel Club Good Citizens bronze tests once a year. We ask that all dogs new to the club start at this class and when they have achieved a certain standard they can move on to....

8pm - Intermediate. Here you will start to build on the work you did in the first class. You will be able to do longer Stay exercises and you will start to learn Retrieve and "A" Recall. Heelwork will be to a higher standard. Several of the Intermediate owners are out having fun competing at Obedience shows (and as a club, our members are doing very well this year!).

9pm - Advanced. This class is for dogs who are out competing regularly at higher levels. It includes Heelwork with Positions and Distance Control among other exercises.

All beginners are very welcome to sit in at any of the higher classes if you would like to get a better idea of what goes on - and see just what you can achieve with a bit of practice!
