The Local Pharmacy.
The Village Pharmacy in Kirby Muxloe has a long history from first opening pre-World War ll, then being bombed in world war ll and subsequent closure. It then re-opened in another premises, and in recent times over the past 8 years been owned by Mr Irfan Kassam and family.
The Pharmacy has evolved throughout the 8 years of ownership and is now regarded as one of the best pharmacies for medicines and advice. The Pharmacy and staff have 5 star reviews on the NHS choices website.
‘At the Village Pharmacy we pride ourselves on always giving the best customer service and will always put patients first’
‘We Always Provide Excellence in Healthcare’
As the pharmacy is not next to a GP surgery they do not have a natural ‘walk in’ prescription flow. They rely heavily on the loyalty of their customers for which they are extremely grateful. They order and collect prescription from all surgeries throughout Leicester and Leicestershire and deliver the medicines to your home or place of work. They do this as a completely free service and anyone can join at any time.
‘We have the belief that we are the best pharmacy service provider and we make sure that all our customers are satisfied. A recent NHS survey showed a 100% satisfaction response for the pharmacy, this was a big boost for the pharmacy staff to know that they are appreciated and to carry on providing a high level of care.’
Very recently, Irfan Kassam and his team embarked on a project to provide as many NHS funded health services as possible, they now provide an NHS stop smoking service, Medication use reviews, New Medicines service, Dossete trays, NHS ‘morning after pill’ and now also provide free training of nurses and carers in a care home setting. As the NHS cannot fund every service, they have also decided to go along the private route.
‘We aim to be providing at least 15 different private services including the flu vaccination before the end of the year.’
They have recently had a complete makeover and have a new consultation room in order to provide these extra services. The look of the pharmacy has been completely transformed from a dated shop to a vibrant, young, clean pharmacy.
‘We are really happy with the look of the shop as it now reflects the level of service we provide. We often get asked whether we are now part of a group, the answer is NO and this pharmacy will always remain an Independent pharmacy with no multi-national company influence. We intend on serving the community not the high-level company shareholders of large pharmacies’
So there you have it your new pharmacy with the same original values. They may look and feel like a large national company, but the day to day service is the same as it has always been.
