Laing House is a delightful traditional home and retains historical importance. The building dates back to the early 1700s, and was the birthplace of Malcolm Laing a local historian 1762- 1818 and Samuel Laing a renowned travel writer and translator 1780- 1868. Their father Robert Laing planted the tree, which is one of the many focal points in Albert Street and stands outside Laing House.
