The Leatherhead and District Lions Club is active in and around Leatherhead and Ashtead, Surrey.
We are one of the 42,000 clubs that make up Lions Clubs International, the largest Service Club organisation in the world, with over 1.4 million members in over 180 countries. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life of less fortunate people in the community by supporting local and other charities and providing service, assistance and funds for those in need. Our Lions Club was founded in 1973 and has been serving the local community ever since.
To fund our charities we raise over £15,000 annually from various local events. Details of, and reports on, these activities and the charities we support, can be found elsewhere on this site. We give our time and assistance freely, and in return we enjoy great friendship and social activities among ourselves and with the people we help.
Some money is used to run community activities - the New Year Party, It's a Knockout, ParaTed and Message in a Bottle. The rest is given to our selected charities and local residents in need. EVERY SINGLE PENNY we collect from donations, or profit from our fund-raising events goes to help others. Unlike many other charities we use absolutely none of the money for salaries or administration.
