Please Help Us To Raise Money to Resurface The Droitwich Lido Park Tennis Courts For Our Community And Future Generations
Have you tried to play tennis at Droitwich Lido Park?
If you have then you may share my disappoint?
That's why I have started this campaign and I am asking the people of Droitwich to please help me to raise some money so that we can have the tennis courts on the lido park resurfaced and put back to their former glory......possibly better than they ever have been.
Here is my story so far:
I am a resident of Droitwich spa with a young family, I love our town and everything it has to offer.
I find it fabulous that the park has tennis courts for everyone to use free of charge but also a great shame that they are full of pot holes and in desperate need of some TLC and in my opinion are no longer fit for purpose.
I have been in touch with our local council (Wychavon) over the past few months and after initially saying there was nothing they could do because it's such big job, ( I have been very persistent) they have now not only agreed that this is a job that needs doing but have tendered for quotes and are looking in to the right contractors for the job.
I attracted the attention of Droitwich Tennis Club who are now on board and are really keen to support the project and encourage as many people as possible to play. Many of their own members started playing years ago on the park and the fact that people can play for free on these courts is great for the future both of the sport and health of Droitwich residents!
Here comes the "but"......Unfortunately they don't have the funds required to cover the whole cost. (They have said that they will give much as they can possibly get their hands on, hopefully at least 50% but they just don't have any more in their budget.)
So I'm turning to you........Droitwich residents, friends, families, businesses, anyone who feels that this cause is worth investing in, anyone who has grazed their knees on the slippery inadequate courts, anyone who like me has been on match point and the ball has landed in one of the many pot holes and gone awol, tennis lovers, fresh air lovers, park lovers, people watches......everyone.
Please if you can, if you want to you, if you too believe this is project worth fighting for, make a donation. Every penny will count.
Thank you so much.
Elaine Newman.
P.S If you are a business that wants to make a donation out of your community fund or out of the goodness of your heart, the council have agreed that we can have some space on the perimeter of the courts to recognise these donations, please contact directly via the messages section and we can talk about it in more detail. Thank you.
All money raised will go directly towards the resurfacing of the tennis courts.
