Liss is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is 3.3 miles northeast of Petersfield, on the A3 road, on the Hampshire/West Sussex border.Liss has its own railway station, on the Portsmouth Direct Line.The village lies in the South Downs National Park, England's newest. The parish consists of 3,567 acres of semi-rural countryside, and is one of the largest in the region.The earliest written mention of Liss may be that found in the Domesday book.The village comprises an old village at West Liss and the modern village, which congregated around the 19th-century Southern Railway station, which is largely Victorian and later. The River Rother formed the boundary between West and East Liss. West Liss contains most of the historical and architectural interest. Suburbs later spread out toward Liss Forest.
