This section provides lots of detailed information about who I am and what I do, as well as explaining the reasons behind my cheap prices and what makes me different to some other professional makeup artists.

A passion for Makeup Artistry…

I take great pride in being able to share my love for makeup artistry by providing professional services at affordable prices as well as being committed to offering as much flexibility and availability as possible to meet the needs of every client.

Alongside freelance, I also work with Beaus and Belles salon, based in Birkenshaw (https://www.facebook.com/PureUrbanSpa/) to offer a wide range of beauty and makeup packages to suit all budgets and meet the needs of all our clients.

About Me…

As I suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which is a long term chronic condition, I am unable to effectively manage my symptoms, which fluctuate on a daily basis and still meet the demand my full time office based role requires, or commit to working hours that I cannot control. Although faced with being unable to work in order to manage my condition effectively, I am determined to be able to work in some capacity; which is achievable if I am in control of my own working hours.

How it all began …

Over the last 12 years I have built up strong knowledge of the cosmetic industry, tried most, if not all UK premium cosmetic and skincare brands and also gained a wide variety of skills and techniques on a personal level through my love and interest of all things makeup and beauty.

Unable to work and this only being possible by being in complete control of my hours, an idea was formed as there was nothing I would love to do more; then 2 months later I successfully passed my first accredited course in Makeup Artistry.

Pricing…

You may be wondering why my prices are ‘cheaper’ in comparison to other professional makeup artists and although I hope this is a good thing, I fully appreciate that this can also raise concerns but please be rest assured that I provide the same level of professional service that you would expect from any professional makeup artist; including: Initial consultations to discuss requirements and assess your skin type and concerns, completion of a client record card to ensure I have all your details and requirements, face charts to include all the products I have used and any other recommendations as well my travel costs being included within my prices (within a 5 mile radius of Birkenshaw.)


So… if that’s the case…Why am I cheaper? What’s the catch? Do I use cheaper products? No, there is no catch and I only use semi premium and premium brands like all other professional makeup artists but there are various reasons why I differ to other makeup artists, ultimately resulting in my prices being ‘cheaper’ as my vision is to be able to provide a professional, bespoke service but at affordable prices.’ Further information can be found in the next section.

Why I am different to other Makeup Artists…

Many professional makeup artists are well established, work full time hours and may be their main source of income; some of whom would be reliant on the salary they earn to meet their financial commitments.

Through personal choice and the need to manage my condition effectively, I do not excessively promote my business as I am unable to work full time hours and I am not reliant on this as a source of income. I do not have years of professional experience nor have I worked on fashion shows or at photo shoots and have a high flying career like many other professional makeup artists, but this means that I am able to offer the following:

• I am able to offer availability for clients requiring appointments within days or weeks, as well as clients who have booked months in advance.

• I am in no way trying to ‘undercut’ other artists, but I acknowledge that I do not have years of professional experience, I haven’t worked with celebs , nor do I have a high flying career and my pricing is partly to reflect that. Yes, I could charge more but I take great pride in the knowledge that due to my affordable pricing, I have been able to provide services to clients, some of whom have since become friends who otherwise wouldn’t of been able to afford it. Most importantly, it gives me the opportunity to meet some wonderful people and share my passion for makeup artistry which is what my business and I are all about.

• Working with Beaus and Belles salon to offer a range of beauty and makeup packages that are not only affordable, but also convenient for our clients.

• I can work under pressure and within strict timescales when required and appreciate the importance of this; however, whenever possible, I like to spend time with my clients to understand there requirements, discuss their concerns and allow them to ask questions, as well as explaining each of the products I am using and the reasons why.
