LRDT was set up in 1998 and aims to tackle some of the long-term problems that face the town and its surrounding communities. Behind the façade of this small, historic and world renowned seaside town (in a superb location) lie many of the issues that face small seaside and rural communities throughout the country. This includes high house prices, low local wages, seasonal jobs, poor access to services, social isolation, and ill-health .
