Maghull Community Enterprise (MCE) is a not-for-profit organisation that acts as a catalyst for collaborative community development initiatives in Maghull.
Maghull Community Enterprise (MCE) is a not-for-profit organisation, established from a partnership of volunteers from Maghull Town Council, Maghull Town Team, local businesses and stakeholders.
The aims of MCE are
• To promote education, training opportunities and work-based learning for Maghull residents to prepare for entry to any occupation, trade or professions.
• To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people from being socially excluded.
MCE has a number of projects established or in development including Maghull Radio, a community magazine, Business Forum, a strong volunteering network and training for local residents.
Maghull Radio
Maghull Radio launched on 17th February 2014 and has gone from strength to strength since. We have 40 active volunteers and recently recruited three paid staff members, including Tony James as Station Manager. Tony has exciting plans for the Station and is keen to work with the team of volunteers to develop the Station into a truly representative voice for Maghull.
You can listen live on our website www.maghullradio.co.uk or on Tunein- ‘Maghull radio’
Local businesses can advertise with the Station by calling Tony on 0151 526 3159/ 077 373 63520 or email tony.james@maghullradio.co.uk

Maghull Community Enterprise to establish local Business Forum
Maghull Community Enterprise (MCE) aims to support local business and enterprise by establishing a Business Forum where local businesses, self-employed contractors and entrepreneurs can come together, share ideas, and discuss topical issues which will impact their business.
They also hope to build a business network online which can potentially open up commercial opportunities for your business by offering accessible online, user-friendly information that saves you time and enables faster and more informed decision-making.
Diana Tuohy, Community Development Coordinator at MCE explained ‘We want to build a friendly business community for encouragement, support and advice for Maghull businesses, big and small. The Forum will act as a platform for local business to raise their profile and a networking organisation for members to refer business opportunities to each other’.
Patrick McKinley, co- founder of Maghull Community Enterprise said It’s great to have Diana on board to help us drive our vision to help local businesses thrive, in turn providing employment opportunities for our residents. One of our key target areas will be to work with businesses in Central Square to support much needed improvements.
Town centres and independent traders are being hit by reductions in disposable income due to austerity and the ongoing growth of internet shopping. I have recently led a cross Sefton regeneration working group looking at good practice in town centre development and we will be using the results from this work to explore local solutions. We will continue to develop working relationships with the owners of Central Square and work with them to regenerate the Square as soon as possible.’
We want to hear from local businesses who would like to get involved, email Diana.tuohy@maghull-tc.gov.uk or call 077 396 32605.
Volunteering Network in Maghull
Maghull Community Enterprise (MCE) hopes to facilitate a new volunteering network which will share information about the different volunteering opportunities that are available locally.
MCE Community Development Co-ordinator said ‘I was pleased to be able to attend the Community Fair in March in the Town Hall and see the many varied groups and organisations operating in Maghull. I am keen to meet with these groups as soon as possible and to discuss any volunteering opportunities they offer and to help engage residents to fulfil these roles.’
If you wish to volunteer, MCE can help you find an opportunity that suits your skills and interests.
If you wish to recruit volunteers, MCE can help advertise your volunteering opportunities locally.
