Middlewich Youth Theatre is a 'not for profit' Community Interest Company, providing activities for children in the community.
Middlewich Youth Theatre is a “not for profit” Community Interest Company which means all profits made must be put back into the youth theatre and/or to the benefit of the community as a whole. We believe this, along with our innovative and comprehensive workshop programmes sets us aside from so many other profit making drama/acting class franchises that are on offer today. Between them, Catherine, Irene and Helen (The directors of MYT) have more than 50 years experience in Theatre, music and performance arts and as members of the local community, would love to see MYT become an integral part of Middlewich life. By launching MYT we are aiming to offer a much needed facility to the young people in our community. The workshops run termly and culminate in a performance opportunity for all involved. We contribute to several community events every year and have taken our members to perform in several venues in Middlewich, making our performances accessible to ALL local people.
During the workshops we look at all aspects of theatre and the performance arts including:
- Acting
- Singing
- Music composition and performance
- Movement and dance
- Script writing
- Directing
- Audition techniques
- Dialects
- Stage combat
- Set Design and Construction
In the future we hope to run more specific workshops for any members with a further interest in theatre where we will look at more specialised techniques, such as:
- Marketing
- Sound and Lighting Design
For those members who don’t wish to perform, but are still interested in becoming members of Middlewich Youth Theatre we will have loads of opportunities to discover the more technical side of theatre. In addition to developing Theatre skills through the workshops and performances members of MYT will also be developing many essential life skills which they can carry through to their adult life. Such as:
- Develop trust and team building skills
- Feel accepted
- Have fun
- Develop communication skills
- Have the confidence
- Enhance their life skills
- Develop pronunciation, articulation and diction
