Launched in 2011, The Food Assembly brings people together to buy directly from their local farmers, producers and makers.

Customers join their local Food Assembly, pre-order and pay for their food online and pick it up at a local pop-up market where they get to meet the farmers who make it.

All the food comes from an average of 26 miles and there is no food waste as the products are pre-ordered.

For every £1 spent, 90p stays in the local economy.

Selling through The Food Assembly, farmers, producers and makers get over 80% for every product sold, compared to the 15%-25% that most supermarkets offer them.
