We exist to bring friendship to socially isolated older people and those of any age who are experiencing bereavement and living in Monifieth. We are a registered charity. (Scottish Charity Number SC030685)
Monifieth Befriending Scheme needs volunteers!
We recruit male and female volunteers, and ask for a minimum commitment of six months. Volunteers do not have to be resident in Monifieth. All volunteers are reference checked, are members of the PVG Scheme, and understand the importance of confidentiality. They are interviewed and trained by our co-ordinators, and are issued with photographic ID cards. They are then matched with a compatible client, usually visiting the client in their own home, but also where the client is mobile, taking them out shopping, for a coffee etc and providing them with quality one to one time which is not otherwise available. Ongoing support and supervision is given. Volunteers are invited to attend monthly drop-in meetings where they meet with the Co-ordinators and other volunteers for coffee, chat and further training.
