Overview of a Monster Remap

With Monster Tuning you don't just get a one size fits all generic remap; you get a custom made tune to your car's specification-giving more power, or maximising economy for example.

As well as unrivalled practical experience from our qualified installers, another key element of our success is the frenetic activity behind the scenes by our technical file writing team. Monster Remaps supply not just simple adjustments to fuel supply, like a tuning box, but also a full remap of the entire engine control function of the ECU; including fuel supply, but also torque maps, turbo pressure control, throttle maps etc. The result is the smoothest, most powerful, efficient enhancement to your engine. Installation Procedure

Our technicians connect to the vehicle's ECU or 'brain' with a laptop PC, through a diagnostic socket, then read the current engine management file which is then sent electronically to our office and custom optimised for your vehicle.

The technician programs the new Monster Tuning optimised file into your vehicle and you then have the opportunity to for yourself to experience the amazing results. On some vehicles it is not possible to carry out this function via the diagnostic socket so in this case the ECU is removed and either a chip change or boot loading function is carried out, direct into the ECU. The final effect is exactly the same, only the process is slightly different. Dependent upon the vehicle, the remap normally takes less than an hour to complete. You can choose to visit one of our dealers, head office, or dependant on area we can visit you at your home or office with one of our mobile technicians.

Why Don't the Manufacturers Offer This?

Manufacturers generally sell one vehicle that covers various markets, with different tax and emissions regulations, diverse climates with extremes of heat, cold and humidity, different fuel quantities and different operating altitudes, etc. A maker has to take all of these factors into consideration and make substantial compromises in the vehicle's operation.

Sales and marketing also have a big effect on the way in which an engine is mapped. If you look in the manufacturer brochure at the engine specifications, the torque graph will rise, then flatten out on a straight line, then drop off. This isn't how an engine breathes, and it's the request of sales and marketing to produce this flat lining of the torque. Why? Well it's about having better torque figures than the competition and about local market taxation laws.
