Hello, my name is Olivia and I’m a Nanny!

I’m originally from a lovely seaside town on the South West cost of Ireland, but have been living in London working as a nanny for the past 3 years. I hugely enjoy my time spent nannying in London but try to get back to Ireland to visit friends and family at least a couple of times a year.

Throughout my childhood I always enjoyed caring for younger children and my interest in childcare was further developed through my university years at Maynooth, Dublin where I studied Social Science. It was here where my fascination in child behaviour led me to explore opportunities to work closely with children.

During my time in Dublin I spent 3 years working as a childcare worker in a private after school club, a role I enjoyed so much that I went on to hold management responsibilities at the club.

I left Dublin for London in December 2012 and initially worked as a teaching assistant in schools across London on a supply basis. Although the experience was highly beneficial to me, I missed the chance to develop the personal relationships with children that I’d enjoyed so much in previous years.

And it was just then that I decided to give full time nannying a go! I initially found a lovely family in Chelsea in need of a nanny, gaining huge enjoyment from looking after Rahul and Arun, and later their baby brother Oscar. More recently I’ve been the nanny of an equally delightful family in Islington, where I’ve had to pleasure of caring for a beautiful young girl, and her adoringly inquisitive younger brother - both of whom I still care for today.

One thing I’ve learnt over the last few years is that being a nanny is so much more than a job - when I say that I mean that’s it’s impossible to be a nanny without feeling an immense emotional bond with the children and the family as a whole. This uniquely personal relationship between employer and nanny has made me appreciate how much of an important decision is made; firstly for a family to welcome a new face into their home and secondly (just as importantly in my opinion) for the nanny to find a family he or she feels confortable enough with, to do their best work.

I’ve naturally built up a network of families and nannies across parts of London and have enjoyed helping both find each other in recent months. Now I want help more and more families find suitable and worthy carers for their children.

Olivia holds a FETAC level 5 qualification in special needs education, is Ofsted registered, holds a valid DBS certificate and teaches piano privately to children currently in her care.
