Come and stay at Orchard Farm in our fully equipped and comfortably furnished self-catering cottages. We have been awarded three stars by 'Visit England' and provide excellent value for money.

A traditional Somerset barn has been converted into two cosy self-catering cottages, ‘Owls and ‘Birds Nest', on our family farm near Castle Cary in the beautiful Somerset countryside. We are just over a mile from the picturesque market town of Castle Cary, with its quirky shops, restaurants and country pubs.
Whether you want to spend time exploring the local countryside along the footpaths that cross the farm, or visit the many attractions that abound in Somerset, Orchard Farm provides an ideal base.

Not only are our cottages situated in the countryside, but we also have our own nature reserve, Carymarsh, complete with a hide, veiwing screens and footpaths. We are restoring over 20 acres to a range of habitats that would have occured in this area before intensive farming began several hundreds of years ago. Over110 species of birds have been recorded during the past 3 years. A wetland area attracts many species of waterbirds and other visitors such as hobbies and marsh harriers. Sand martins bred there last year and we have even had a purple heron drop in. An area of woodland is being developed in order to encourage our small population of tree sparrows, plus we provide winter forage for flocks of tree sparrows, yellowhammers, reed buntings and chaffinches. We have built a hide between the two habitats to allow you to sit and watch the birds in comfort.
