Peter Ivins Eye Care offers world class eye care locally via NHS & private eye examinations.
Peter Ivins (formerly of Black & Lizars) has been involved in contact lens research, clinical trials and clinical practice locally in the Bearsden and Milngavie area for over 30 years and has recently completed a postgraduate diploma in Ocular Therapeutics. Peter is part of the teaching facility at the Johnson & Johnson Visioncare Institute where he educates optometrists, dispensing opticians, clinical assistants and practice managers on a variety of subjects including contact lens fitting. Peter is also clinical consultant to a range of global optometric companies.
He is joined by optometrist Craig McArthur (also formerly of Black and Lizars). Craig is a clinical advisor and consultant to a number of companies specialising in macular screening, optical coherence tomography and integration and utilization of technology within optometric practice. Craig has published numerous articles and lectures throughout the UK and Europe on a variety of subjects including macular screening techniques, optical coherence tomography and use of cutting edge. He is also a clinical tutor to 4th year undergraduate students from Glasgow Caledonian University’s optometry programme, where he is also a visiting lecturer.
They are joined by dispensing opticians Alison Halliday (formerly of Black and Lizars) and Jillian Forrie (formerly of Boots Opticians and Specsavers) and clinical assistants Myra Forbes, Rita McColgan and Margaret Young in a new practice on 72 Drymen Road, Bearsden G61 2RH (opposite Bearsden train station).
Peter has been involved in teaching and lecturing in many parts of the world including most of Europe, USA, Australia, China, Korea and South Africa. Through this experience he has studied optometric practice throughout the world and saw a gap in the market for a practice that does things a little differently, concentrating less on the sale of spectacles and more on visual health care, spending more time with people and explaining carefully to them their visual status and vision correction options, and most importantly offering lifelong continuous care. This led him to develop the Eye Care for Life programme - a different and much better way to deliver eye care.
