The Aspinall Suite

This is a magnificent large room is perfect for large receptions or parties. Within the historic listed walls, you can still make out some wonderful details such as the Dove cote above the doorway that previously lead onto the Kitchen Court. With the timber painted antique cream it is now a light and airy which provides the perfect, neutral backdrop for you to add those signature touches, setting the scene to create the perfect reception.

The Spencer Roberts room

Just off the entrance hallway, on the left this is the first of the fabulous rooms in the hotel. It is adorned with paintings of wild animals, from all over the world. It was in this room that councils of state were held between Mr Lloyd George, with other members of the late Government, and representatives of France, including Marshall Foch, which eventually lead to the signing of the Treaty of Versailles one of the peace treaties at the end of World War I. In the summer the room affords fantastic views across the Romney Marsh and on a clear day views across to France. With direct access onto the terrace, this room is a perfect room for you to host a ceremony, drinks reception or sit down meal.

The Long room

The second room off the entrance hallway, opposite the Grand Staircase, but also opening off the Spencer Roberts is the central, elegant and most spacious of the rooms in the hotel. Previously this room was used as a small library. It has Roman Style French Doors that can be flung open onto the garden offering the opportunity to say ‘I do’ under the arch outside on the Southern Terrace. The views stretch out across the Romney Marsh and on a fine day you can see across to France. The Southern Terrace offers you a private outdoor space for you and your guests where they can wonder down onto the manicured beautiful lawns. If you are having an autumn or winter wedding or partnership we can light the wood burning fire and make the room really cosy.

Outdoor Spaces

Port Lympne hotel terraced gardens with panoramic views over Romney Marsh out to the English Channel make this a stunning and tranquil reception venue. During the summer guests can wander around the Italian Style gardens and terraces. The west facing Iceberg Terrace receives the sun late into the afternoon making it the ideal location to serve refreshments.

Port Lympne hotel currently offers 8 king size bedrooms, including 4 suites available to you both and your friends and family. The elegant 1920’s mansion is steeped in history and enjoys glorious panoramic views. The hotel is an early 20th century country house built for Sir Philip Sassoon by Herbert Baker and Philip Tilden. Completed after World War One, it was abandoned after World War Two following Sir Philip’s death in 1939. In December, 1966, the house became Grade II*-listed. In 1973, John Aspinall purchased the estate as part of his expansion of Howletts Zoo. However, even before this new life began the Mansion had led an interesting life.
